It wasn’t very consistent in the earlier days of the competition but now, the Shpageeza Cricket League (SCL) seems to be established and here to stay. While we’ve seen a few overseas players in the past, it’s all primarily a local talent tournament, and that’s why the top bowlers and batters are all local, Afghani players.
On this page on Read Scoops, we’re talking about the payers with the most runs in Shpageeza T20 history, right from inception of the league till date. There isn’t much information available on the SCL 2013 tournament as it wasn’t granted official T20 status by the International Cricket Council (ICC) at the time. However, the rest of the data stays the same.
Top run scorers in Shpageeza T20 history
The current Afghanistan ODI captain in Hashmatullah Shahidi is the highest scorer in the history of this league so far, piling on the runs at an average of 40+ in this competition. He’s among one of only four players to go past 1,000 runs in this tournament’s history and also the only current player to do so. However, this is likely to change in the SCL 2024 season.

Close on his heels are Usman Ghani, Noor Ali Zadran, and Asghar Afghan, all of whom will slide down this SCL run scorers list in due course, as they’re now retired from T20 cricket. None of the players on this SCL most runs list have got centuries but those who have centuries are narrowly outside the list, and are sure to climb the ladder in seasons to come. Watch out for the likes of Karim Janat, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and others. These national side players have scored heavily in recent Shpageeza T20 games.
Shpageeza T20 most runs list
A special mention of Shahidullah Kamal has to be made as he’s been a bit of an accumulator of runs in this competition. He’s never scored a 60+ score in this tournament but has still managed to be among the top run scorers, but also has the unwanted record of the lowest strike rate among these top 10 SCL T20 run scorers.
