Every cricket fan knows that T20 cricket has revolutionised the game and you get to see some of the most aggressive and atrocious shots being played by batters in today’s day and age. One such arrogant shot was on display in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) in India last night, where an al-important Qualifier 1 game was taking place in the TNPL 2023 playoffs.
It was Lyca Kovai Kings vs Dindigul Dragons with the winner getting a spot in the TNPL 2023 final, so the stakes were super high. Batting first, Kings scored 193/7 and they seemed to be in a comfortable spot to get to the final. Dindigul was in trouble at 72/6 in the chase and when everything was looking gloomy for them, they brought on impact player C Sarath Kumar and he entertained the crowds from there…
C Sarath Kumar switch hit six in TNPL 2023
We say that sometimes, batsmen see the ball like a football when they’re in great touch, and that’s what happened with C Sarath Kumar yesterday, who was tonking it all across the ground. His innings included only one four but as many as 8 sixes as he ended with 62(26) with an impressive strike rate of 238+. However, he grabbed the spotlight for one shot in particular.
This came in the 19th over of the game where the batsmen were anyway trying to slog everything out of the ground. Sarath Kumar pulled out one of the most ridiculous shots we’ve seen in T20 cricket history, as he got into a switch hit position while the bowler was still in his run-up, and hit it clean over deep extra cover for a massive, massive six.

The bowler was K Gowtham Thamarai Kannan who had a good game with 2 wickets in his first 3 overs itself. The last over of his spell was a good one too, as he gave away 1, 0, 0, 0, 0 in the first five balls of the over, only to be slogged for six on the last ball of the spell. Even the skipper Baba Indrajith was having a laugh looking at this shot which not many have seen before. Take a look at the C Sarath Kumar six:
The most shocking six you will see a right-handed batter hit. Yes, he's a right hander! 🤯#TNPL #TNPLonFanCode pic.twitter.com/AlNcSV9WcW

While a few others tweeted about this yesterday itself, the official Fancode account posted a video of the six today with caption, “The most shocking six you will see a right-handed batter hit. Yes, he’s a right hander! 🤯 #TNPL #TNPLonFanCode” Most others switch at the last moment but Kumar switched well in the bowler’s run-up and waited for the ball to come to him as a left-handed batter.
Sarath Kumar was dismissed only a couple of balls later who 62 but everyone enjoyed the shots he played, even though his team ended 30 runs short on the day. They will however, get another chance in the TNPL 2023 Qualifier 2, and will hope to play Kovai Kings in the final again.
