Bangladesh Test captain Shakib al Hasan who is on the sidelines since his finger injury in the 2018 Asia Cup is all set to make a return to the International arena. He has been named as Captain to lead Bangladesh in the 1st Test match against West Indies in Chittagong which starts on Thursday (Nov 22).
Opener Liton Das, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Shaiful Islam who were part of 2-match Test series against Zimbabwe have all been dropped against Windies. Meanwhile, Soumya Sarkar and Naeem Hasan have been recalled for the 1st Test match. Sarkar might open in the 1st Test against WI as their opener Das was dropped.
Taijul Islam who has been sensational with the ball against Zimbabwe and Mushfiqur Rahim with the bat are expected to play a prominent role in this 2-match Test upcoming series. The home team is coming into this series with a 1-1 result against Zimbabwe while West Indies were whitewashed 2-0 by India in their last Test series.
Meanwhile, West Indies suffered a big blow ahead of this Bangladesh tour as their captain Jason Holder was ruled out of the entire tour with a shoulder injury. In his absence, opener Kraigg Brathwaite has been named as captain for West Indies for this 2-match Test series.
The 2 Test matches between Bangladesh and West Indies will be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdary Stadium in Chittagong (Nov 22–Nov 28) and at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka (Nov 30–Dec 04).
