Shakib al Hasan Helps Bangladesh to Historic Win

Both of Tamim Iqbal & Shakib al Hasan were playing in their respective 50th test matches for Bangladesh and boy, did they both make it count. Tamim scored seventies in both innings (71 & 78), while Shakib scored 84 and picked up 10 wickets in the test match.

The result?

Bangladesh create history by winning a test match against Australia for the first time ever, winning by 20 runs.

Their efforts have helped Bangladesh secure a historic victory, beating the mighty Australians for the first time ever. They secured a 1st innings lead and then set Australia 265 to win the test match. David Warner’s 112 in the 4th innings meant the visitors were on their way to winning the 1st test in Dhaka.

However, Bangladesh came out strong on the morning of Day 4 of the test. The hosts picked up 5 wickets in the first session, and then Shakib bowled out Glenn  Maxwell on the first ball of the second session. The next three wickets were tough to come by, but they did it.

Shakib scored 84 in the 1st innings, took 5/68 in the first bowling innings, and then backed it up with 5/85 in the 2nd innings. Today, he became the first ever cricketer to have scored 80+ and to take have taken 10 wickets in the same test match. He isn’t the #1 test all-rounder for nothing, eh?

He is also only the second person after the great Richard Hadlee to get a fifty and 10 wickets in a single test. Yesterday, he became the fourth bowler after Murali, Herath and Steyn to take 5-wicket hauls against all 9 other test playing nations.
