Saurashtra has always had a major role to play in the Indian domestic cricket circuit and it was in 2019 that the Saurashtra Cricket Association decided to kick off a franchise T20 league of their own. Over time, quite a few of Indian states have been launching their own tournaments and one of the first to do so was the Saurashtra Premier League (SPL T20).
At the time of writing this, the tournament completed two successful seasons, both of which had five franchise teams participating. The league had to go on a short break as soon as it was launched because of the global Covid-19 pandemic, but they’re back on track again, now all set for the much-awaited Saurashtra Premier League 2023 season. Here on this page, we’ll look at all the past SPL T20 winners…
So far in the SPL T20 history, all of the matches in the tournament have been played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) Stadium in Rajkot, which is an international ground as well. SPL 2019 ended with Sorath Lions being crowned the first winner of this regional tournament, edging out Zalawad Royals by just 5 runs in a well-contested final.

The second edition of the tournament saw Halar Heroes going on to clinch the title, beating Gohilwad Gladiators in the SPL 2022 final. This basically means no team has win the tournament twice yet, while no team has even made the Saurashtra Premier League final on two different occasions. Since only five teams participate in the this competition, the only team that is yet to make a SPL final is Kutch Warriors, and they’ll be hoping to change this once the 2023 edition kicks off. In the two finals that have concluded so far, Himalaya Barad and Navneet Vora have been adjudged Man of the Match for their performances when it most mattered to their respective teams.
The tournament follows a round robin and final format and we’ve last updated this SPL winners list before the start of the SPL 2023 edition, which was initially supposed to be held towards the end of June 2023 but was delayed due to unforeseen conditions. Quite a few Ranji Trophy and IPL players from the region participate in the tournament and we can expect more fireworks in seasons to come as well.
The league is still in its initial phases and we can expect it to grow and have a rich history in years to come.
