Complete SA20 League 5-Fers List

The SA20 League kicked off in 2023 in South Africa, as a revamped version of Cricket South Africa’s domestic T20 competition. There was a lot of anticipation and hype around the first season and both the batsmen and bowlers did really well to put up a great show in SA20 League 2023, which we expect to be repeated in every season of the competition to come over the years.

On this page, we’re going to take a look at some of the best bowling performances in the competition, specifically every time there was a 5-wicket haul picked up. Because of the short history of this new SA20 League, there aren’t too many entries in the SA20 League 5-fers list currently, but we’ll keep updating this list in real-time as and when there are new SA20 5-wicket hauls.

The first time there was an SA20 League 5-fer was also the first SA20 league 6-fer because Netherlands all-rounder Roelof van Der Merwe didn’t want to stop at only 5 wickets. He picked up a record 6/20 for Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the inaugural edition of the league, which remains the best figures till date. We’ve put up a complete SA20 5-wicket hauls list below, last updated on 11th February 2024:

vd Merwe’s figures remains the best figures in the history of the league, and while only one SA20 5-fer was picked in the inaugural edition, there were three more joining the list in SA20 League 2024. With a lot of talent in the league, this SA20 League 5-fers list is probably going to keep increasing as time and seasons go by. Check out the complete list below:

Usually, you’ll find local players picking up the first of such milestones but the former South African has been representing the Dutch national side over the last few years. His incredible effort with the ball meant that SEC secured a whopping victory of 124 runs that remains the second largest win in SA20 League history, at the time we last updated this page.

vd Merwe came close to getting a second entry in the SA20 5-fers list because he picked up a 4-wicket haul as well. Others who have come close on multiple occasions include Aaron Phangiso and Lizaad Williams who both have two 4-fers each in this tournament, the latter having one in each season so far.
