The 4-match Test series between Australia and India is fast approaching and so are the predictions. Considering the current form of both the teams, we anticipate a maiden Test series victory for India in Australia on the cards. Have you made your predictions yet?!
Australian former captain Ricky Ponting has made his prediction for the 4-match Test series between Australia and India that kick starts at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, next Thursday (Dec 06). Ponting predicts a 2-1 scoreline in favour of the home team Australia.
“I think Australia will win. I think it will be 2-1. Both fast bowling-attacks are good. I think our [Aussies] batsmen will play better against their [India] quicks than their batsmen will play against ours!,” predicted Ricky Ponting.
Ponting also suggests that Usman Khawaja and Josh Hazlewood would be two stand-out performers in the upcoming series. Khawaja had a great tour of UAE with the bat against Pakistan in the Test series and according to Ponting, Khawaja will carry his amazing form with the bat into this upcoming series against India.
“He’s on top of his game, his record in Australia is outstanding. As much of a threat that the Indian fast bowlers might pose, I think he’s got a game that can cope with it here in Australia. I’m going with him to be the leading run scorer and man of the series,” said Ponting about Usman Khawaja.
“Right now he’s in a really good place, the selectors backed him through that UAE tour, gave him a chance and he came out better on the other side of that. With the skill that he’s got and maybe a bit more belief in his own game than ever before, I think he’s got the perfect package to have a great summer,” he added.
Just for the record, Ricky Ponting successfully predicted the Ashes 2017/18 in Australia as 4-0! During the mentioned Ashes series, the home team Australia won 4 Test matches while the boxing day Test match at MCG ended in a draw courtesy a hard grind double century from England opener Alastair Cook.
