The opener Babul Kumar was on strike and left-arm spinner Hardik Patel was the bowler. Kumar smashed the ball towards cover and just when he thought he was going to get a boundary for this shot, he was in disbelief as Panchal completed the catch.
He leapt much like Paul Collingwood and took the catch with an outstretched right hand, as the batsman looked on in shock and Panchal’s teammates crowded around him to celebrate that moment of brilliance, and of course the wicket. “Committed completely to counter every challenge coming my way. #catch” was what Panchal posted to his Instagram account later with a video of the catch.

Panchal has always been committed to the cause of scoring runs and being noticed by national selectors, also representing India A against new Zealand A last month. In this particular game, the Gujarat captain scored 29(20) in the chase, after getting a fifty in the previous game against Andhra Pradesh. See the video he posted on his Instagram of the catch:

Quite a few of his teammates and peers commented on the post, congratulating him for completing this brilliant catch, including Rakesh Yadav and Chetan Sakariya. The icing on the cake was that they went on to complete an easy win at the Holkar Stadium and BCCI also posted a video of the catch to their Twitter account.
