Pakistan selection panel headed by former player Inzaman ul Haq on Monday (Oct 29) announced their squad for the three match T20I series against New Zealand that starts from Wednesday (Oct 31). They have retained the same squad that whitewashed Australia in the recently completed three match T20I series.
As per PCB’s press release, selection panel has picked the team for New Zealand T20Is only after a consultation with captain Sarfraz Ahmed and coach Mickey Arthur. And who would want to make changes after putting on such a great display in all the three departments with perfection against a top nation such as Australia.
Pakistan defeated Australia by 66 runs in the first T20I, by 11 runs in the second T20I and by 33 runs in the third T20I. It has been an all-round performance from them to whitewash Australia for the first time in a bilateral T20I series.
Having scored with an average of over 50, Babar Azam and Mohammad Hafeez were in brilliant form with the bat against Australia. Babar is the highest run-getter in that series while Hafeez is second in the list. Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan bowled brilliantly and what more do you need than better spinners in Asian conditions! Overall, Pakistan selectors have made the right choice in retaining the winning squad.
“The National Selection Committee headed by Inzamam ul Haq after consultation with Captain Sarfraz Ahmed and Head Coach Mickey Arthur has retained the 15-member T-20 squad that played against Australia for the upcoming three-match T-20I series against New Zealand,” said PCB’s press release.
