Scoring an international century (100 or more runs) is as big as it can get for international cricketers. And scoring that in one of your first few games for your country is even bigger a milestone. Now, we’re going to talk about those cricketers who scored a century in their first Test match, and you can imagine that there are only a handful of those out there.
In particular, we’ve listed down all Pakistani batsmen who’ve scored a century on Test debut since the start of the game till date. When we last updated this page as of 15th October 2024, there were 13 such batsmen who got to triple figures in their first outing in Test cricket for Pakistan, and we’ll tell you who all managed to reach this rare landmark.
Even some of the most legendary Pakistani batsmen like Inzamam ul Haq, Babar Azam, Mohammad Yousuf, and others didn’t manage to get to three figures on Test debut. The first one to do so for Pakistan in this format was the late Khalid Ibadulla who did so against Australia in 1964. The former batter passed away in July 2024, at the age of 88 years.

Ibadulla reached this record in 1964 as the first Pakistani batsmen to get a century on Test debut and it was a whole 12 years later that the next Pakistani batsman repeated this. It was Javed Miandad in 1976, followed by Saleem Malik in 1982 and Mohammad Wasim after another 14 years – 1996.
A special mention on this Pakistan Test debut centuries list needs to be made for Yasir Hameed (2003)who became the first Pakistani batsman to score twin centuries on Test debut, which means centuries in both innings of his first game. He was and remains till date one of only two to do so, after West Indies’ Lawrence Rowe (1972).

Hameed’s 1st innings score of 170 is also the highest score by a Pakistani batter on Test debut, followed by Fawad Alam who came close to him in 2009, getting 168 runs on his debut in whites. Ali Naqvi and Azhar Mahmood became the first and only time in Test history that two Pakistani batters scored a century on Test debut in the same match!
