Major League Cricket Winners List

The world was brought a new cricketing competition in 2023 called the Major League Cricket (MLC) and with a number of high profile names and team owners, we knew it was going to be a super popular event on the annual cricket calendar. The first edition of the tournament was MLC 2023, scheduled between 13-30 July 2023.

The tournament had a total of 6 teams and even though MI New York had a slow start to the tournament, they went on to win several games on the trot, to be crowned the MLC 2023 champion. The tournament doesn’t have a long history but with all the international superstars linked to the event, we expect many big finals to be played in the years to come.

New York needed 184 runs to win the MLC 2023 final and after losing their first wicket for no runs on the board, MI captain Nicholas Pooran played the innings of his life, with 137(55)*, scoring both the fastest fifty as well as the fastest century of the competition. After having 5 trophies in the IPL over the years, MI opened their account in this competition too, becoming the fist MLC T20 winner.

While there will be many more names on this MLC winners list over the years, MI New York is currently the only team to have won here. Take a look at our MLC winners list below , last updated 21st July 2024, towards the end of the MLC 2024 season, where Washington Freedom was sitting pretty at the top of the MLC 2024 points table:

Seattle Orcas had a great MLC 2023 season as compared to MI New York, with the latter only getting 2 wins during the group stage and narrowly managing to make the MLC 2023 Playoffs. Eventually, they won 3 matches in a row and became the first MLC winner. Pooran also ended as the highest scorer of MLC 2023, with 388 runs in the season.

With the ball, MI New York’s Trent Boult ended as the top wicket-taker with as many as 22 wickets in 8 games. No one else was even near his tally, as Cameron Gannon and Andrew Tye ended with 11 wickets each in MLC 2023. We will see plenty more of all of these players in future editions of the event, and that’ll bring much more entertainment as well.
