Everyone is hooked on to the 2022 Legends League Cricket (LLC) T20 because some of the legends of world cricket are taking part in this event, being played in Muscat. Today, there was a clash between Asia Lions and World Giants, where the latter made light work of a 150 target set by the Asia Lions which consists of players from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
While there were a few good bowling and batting performances in today’s LLC T20 2022 game, the hero of the show had to be former England top order batsman Kevin Pietersen as he blazed his way to a second fifty this tournament, this one as classical as the knocks he used to play during his younger days for England.
Kevin Pietersen hits 30 runs in an over
One particular moment which he won’t forget came in the 6th over of the chase. Giants were batting at 33/1 after 5 overs and the tables completely turned from the 6th over onwards. Knocking KP’s weakness against left-arm spin, Asia Lions introduced Mohammad Rafique from one end and Sanath Jayasuriya from the other.
However, it was Sanath’s first over of the tournament and he was smashed to every corner of the ground. Pietersen hit him for six boundaries in that 6th over, getting them well on track to win the game. The over read 4, 6, 4, 4, 6, 6 as KP smashed Jayasuriya for 30 runs off the over. With that, the required run rate fell drastically and Giants ended the powerplay at 63/1 in 6 overs.

It was a bit unlucky for Jayasuriya as he’s been out of professional cricket for many years now and this was in fact his first over of the tournament. KP even went on to complete his fifty during this full-out assault against Sanath. Every single ball went to the fence while the best of them was 102-meter six which also went on to be the biggest six of the tournament.
Earlier in the day, Asia Lions put up 149/7 in their 20 overs and that was the lowest score of the LLC T20 2022 so far. In fact, Giants had chased down 200+ before this game so we knew it wasn’t going to take too long. And while Herschelle Gibbs was dismissed early in the chase, we had KP and Kevin O’Brien taking the bowlers apart to make light work of this chase.
Not many times in his career would Jayasuriya have been giving such a merciless treatment but Pietersen is way younger and of course, was one of the best batters of all-time during his days. And after him, Pietersen even took on Dilhara Fernando who was hit for 18 runs in his over and Asghar Afghan for 21 runs as well. They strolled to victory in this game today; they were 123/1 after 10 overs when we were writing this.
