We talk so much about the batsmen in cricket’s shortest format. We talk about fours and sixes and big strike rates, and much more. It’s all crash, boom, bang in the Abu Dhabi T10 League but sometimes, we need to stop and think about the bowlers. Those who usually take a beating in this format, often end up being match-winners with the ball as well.
Very often, we see bowlers coming and changing the course of the game with a couple of wickets early on, or restricting the opponents due to wickets in the death overs as well. On multiple occasions in the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament, we’ve even seen bowlers picking up hat-tricks, so keep reading here for our complete list of Abu Dhabi T10 hat-tricks…
Taking wickets in a T10 game is always difficult because you’re only allowed to bowl a maximum of 12 balls each. Taking 3 wickets in 12 of those balls is tougher, and even harder if you are to get them in three consecutive deliveries. However, quite a few bowlers have managed to do so in this tournament, with Shahid Afridi being the first to get an Abu Dhabi T10 League hat-trick, in 2017.

The second bowler to get a hat-trick in the Abu Dhabi T10 competition so was also a Pakistani bowler in Aamer Yamin, who also became the first (and still currently only) bowler to manage a double hat-trick, which is four wickets in four balls. He also became the first bowler to bowl a maiden in the Abu Dhabi T10 League in that match, representing the Bengal Tigers.
India’s Pravin Tambe, South Africa’s Wayne Parnell, West Indies’ Oshane Thomas, and England’s Adil Rashid were the other players to bag hat-tricks in this competition, with Tambe becoming the first to go on to get a 5-fer in the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament. Clearly, the tournament has proved that it’s not only a batter’s game.
While hat-tricks are rare in limited overs cricket, Aamer Yamin and Pravin Tambe incidentally got their hat-tricks on the same day, way back in the second season of the T10 League in Abu Dhabi.
