For those who have been following the 2021 Pakistan tour of England, you’ll know how entertaining the T20I series has been so far. While the ODI series was pretty one-sided, Pakistan has brought a better game to the T20 series and after 2 games, the two countries are now tied 1-1. One thing common across both games however has bee some massive hitting from both teams, especially England’s Liam Livingstone.
After a breathtaking century in the 1st T20 which was also the fastest ever by an Englishman in T20I cricket, Livingstone came out to bat in the 2nd T20 and started from where he left off in the first game. His innings of 38(23) included 2 fours and 3 sixes but what got everyone’s attention is one of those sixes which was arguably one of the biggest ever seen in international cricket.
We’re talking about the first ball of the 16th over which was being bowled by Pakistani speedster Haris Rauf. He bludgeoned the ball straight back over Rauf’s head and the ball went over the stadium roof itself, making it difficult to even calculate the distance of the six. While fans argued that this was the biggest ever in international cricket, we later got confirmation it took third place, with a distance of 122 meters!
It was in 2012 that Martin Guptill recorded a 127-meter six and since then, this has been the biggest one in international cricket. Prior to that in 2005, it’s been said that Brett Lee also smashed a 143-meter six at the Gabba against West Indies and legend also speaks of CK Nayudu smashing a really long one in Warwickshire many, many years ago. See Livingstone’s 122-meter six:
