The Lanka Premier League (LPL) is still considered a fledgling league when you compare it with some of the other big T20 franchise leagues like the IPL, Big Bash, Super Smash, T20 Blast, CPL, and many others. Having begun with their inaugural season in LPL 2020, they’ve only completed three seasons so far, so there’s no long or rich history associated with the Lanka Premier League T20 yet.
However, seeing some of the star players to have participated in the league over the last couple of years, it’s safe to say that there’s a lot of scope for growth for LPL T20 and one day, this league will surely also have a rich history. There’s bound to be a lot of ups and downs in this list as the league grows over the years. After the completion of the first two seasons, Danushka Gunathilaka sat pretty on top of the LPL T20 run scorers chart, only to slip down heavily after the LPL 2022 season, because he was unavailable after being arrested in Australia. Avishka Fernando took over after LPL 2022, after yet another impressive season!

As many as eight players on the list of top 10 run scorers at the Lanka Premier League belong to Sri Lanka itself, and we hope to see that changing as the league grows over the years. Gunathilaka is the only one of batsmen on the list below to have a career LPL batting average of 40+. He was also the leading batsman when it comes to the most fifties in LPL history, but Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis overtook him after LPL 2022, with each of them having seven (7) fifties in this tournament so far.
Only three batsmen have managed to reach the 3-digit mark in LPL matches and this list of LPL hundreds includes Fernando once again, England’s Laurie Evans, and Andre Fletcher. Angelo Mathews, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, and Kamindu Mendis are three players who narrowly missed the list of top 10 run scorers in LPL history, but there’s always time to catch up and climb a few spots on the list.
From these players above, only one has managed to maintain an LPL career strike rate of 190+ and that’s Thisara Perera who hits the ball at a strike rate of 195.03 which is way above the other batters on this list. Gunathilaka leads the race when it comes to most boundaries (93) while Avishka Fernando has hit the most number of sixes (45) in this tournament till date.
