WATCH: Kieron Pollard Bowls Offspin, Takes Wicket

Cricket as a sport began as a way to just have fun and entertain yourselves. However, it became more competitive and commercial over the years. And if there’s one nationality that loves their cricket more than anyone else, it has to be the West Indies players. They play to have fun and we’re seeing a lot of that fun on the pitch in the ongoing Trinidad T10 Blast 2022.

In this shortest format, you usually see the batsmen doing well. For example, we had Nicholas Pooran scoring a 37-ball century and we even had a new record of 40 runs in an over being scored by the duo of Sunil Narine and Jason Mohammed. And today, we’re going to talk about another batsman in West Indies limited overs captain Kieron Pollard, but this time for his exploits with the ball.

Kieron Pollard bowls off-spin in Trinidad T10

Pollard is known for enjoying his game and having fun on the field. Many a times, we’ve seen him involved in banter on the field and a few words being exchanged with opponents. He bowls his medium pacers from time to time but here, we saw him bowling traditional off-spin to have some fun. And he even managed to get a wicket while doing so, in the ongoing 2022 Trinidad T10 Blast.

All games are being played at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba and this one was too, where he was playing for and leading the Scarlet Ibis Scorchers against the in-form Soca King on 27 Feb 2022. Scorchers put Soca in to bat and the latter was off to a flier with the bat, so Pollard introduced himself in the fourth over of the game to take a bit of control into his own hands.

And as it has so many times in the past, it actually went on to work for him. He gave away 10 runs in his first four deliveries and the fifth one saw him going through the gap in the defenses of Leonardo Julien, bowling him out for 24*. Eventually, he ended with 1/10 in the only over that he bowled, but Soca went on to score a massive 150!  See the video here:

Usually known for his batting prowess, it was his ability with the ball that got him into the news on this occasion. Later in the game when he had to bat, Pollard failed with only 8 runs but we know he’ll get a few big hits in the many games yet to come in the 2022 Trinidad T10 tournament. How many times, he’s managed to do that in the IPL and in international cricket as well, so it’s only a matter of time here.
