Yesterday was a big game for Rajasthan Royals as they dedicated their IPL 2022 match against Mumbai Indians to Shane Warne, which you can read all about here. Forever their ‘First Royal’, they were playing for him and they definitely felt his presence within the camp yesterday. In the game, Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to field first.
Rajasthan Royals had a really slow start especially since Jos Buttler was struggling to score runs. It was well past the 10th over and he wasn’t even able to achieve a run-a-ball strike rate. However, we know the Englishman can cover up in the death overs and what he did well was preserve his wicket as a couple were falling around him early.
IPL 2022 – Jos Buttler hits 4 consecutive sixes!
After 15 overs, Buttler was batting on 43(46)* and he really felt it was time to get a move on. While he’s been circumspect against spinners so far in IPL 2022, he decided to go all out against Hrithik Shokeen who was introduced to bowl the third over of his spell in the 16th over. The youngster barely has a handful of IPL games under his belt and here, he was really put under the pump.
Buttler ran down the track and lofted the first ball of the over over long on for a six and then decided to take on the off-spinner on the second delivery as well, clearing his leg and hitting a flat six straight down the ground. He got past his fifty and decided he wanted to make the most of this over, smashing the third ball past mid-wicket and completing a hat-trick of sixes.

Suddenly the youngster was under a lot of pressure and everyone in the MI team was seen talking to him before he went on to bowl the fourth delivery of the over. Here, he delivered a juicy full toss to an in-form Buttler outside the off stump and Buttler obliged, hitting it past the long-off boundary for four consecutive sixes.
Everyone started thinking about Herschelle Gibbs and Kieron Pollard and Yuvraj Singh and the lot as it started to seem all too easy for Buttler. However, Shokeen was smart about the fifth ball of the over as he bowled from around the stumps and delivered a ball wide outside the off-stump. Buttler decided to leave the ball and it wasn’t wided, so it was the end of the 6-sixes dream.

Shokeen managed to have the last laugh as he dismissed Buttler off the final delivery of the over, ending with 67(52) and recording another brilliant score in this IPL 2022 season. In the process, he went on to pass the 500-run milestone in this season as well, taking a massive lead on the Orange Cap leaderboard as well. In fact, he seems to have a good record against Mumbai Indians in recent games:
