They fell 13 runs short of Chennai’s 211 in their last game, did Delhi Daredevils. With that, they now have 2 wins in 8 matches which means that their hopes of qualification are almost over, needing 6 wins off their last 6 games in order to reach the playoffs. They are up against Rajasthan Royals, who have 3 wins from their 7 games in IPL 2018 so far.
This game will be a very important one for Delhi as they need to win all their games from here on. They have looked good and playing a game at home always gives you a slight little advantage over your opponents. Rajasthan are coming off a loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad where they failed to chase down 152.
Teams
Delhi are slowly proving that they have an equally destructive line up as any of the top batting sides in the Indian Premier League. The big hitters Glenn Maxwell and Colin Munro failed in the last game, as well as captain Shreyas Iyer and the young Prithvi Shaw. In spite of this, they managed to score 198, thanks to Pant and Shankar tonking the ball around. The point is that they look like a dangerous batting unit even without the need of Dan Christian and Chris Morris.
We at Read Scoops highly fancied Rajasthan Royal’s chances before IPL 2018 began. However, they messed up their team combinations horribly for the first few games and while they seemed to have figured it out slightly now, there are still some gaping issues. Firstly, that of none of their overseas players being able to contribute, except for Jofra Archer who has picked up 6 wickets in 2 games and he is one threat to any opposition.
Apart from him, both of Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler haven’t been able to score, when a lot was expected from them to be the powerhitters in the middle order for Rajasthan in the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League. However, they have failed time and time again. My one suggestion would be to move Buttler to open the innings (like he has for Mumbai in the past), but then again Tripathi will have to be shifted down the order, having got only 2 chances there so far.
Overall
The head to head count between these two in the Indian Premier League is 11-6 in favour of the Rajasthan Royals. They also won the reverse fixture when Delhi were set to chase a high target of 71 in 6 overs. I’m backing Delhi Daredevils to win and improve their record against Rajasthan.
