If you compare these two teams, Kolkata Knight Riders has a much stronger and well balanced squad as compared to that of the Delhi Daredevils. However, both teams have performed the same so far in IPL 2018, with one win in their respective three games each. KKR are coming off a loss, while DD are coming off a good win against Mumbai!
Teams
The focus will be on Gautam Gambhir returning home to the Eden Gardens, where he has had so many fond memories and match-winning knocks. We may not be able to predict the outcome of this game, but we’re pretty sure Gambhir will be among the runs here against his former team. Also, expect Sunil Narine to slot back up to open the innings as the Uthappa experiment failed and Narine wasn’t really good against the old ball in the last game.
I’m expecting a bit of Lynnsanity to prevail at the Eden Gardens today, with Chris Lynn having three knocks so far, but not having gone lynn-sane as yet. He scored his best of 49 in the last game but was dismissed by Shakib al Hasan, extending his poor record against left-arm spinners. Will Delhi’s Shahbaz Nadeem now be vital against Lynn?
Kamlesh Nagarkoti was yet to play a game for KKR, but he is ruled out with an injury and replaced by Prasidh Krishna. Now looking at the DD team, they possess a couple of match-winning all-rounders in Glenn Maxwell and Chris Morris. Maxwell, like Lynn, hasn’t gone ballistic as yet while Morris missed the last game due to illness. The DD fans will be hoping he’s back for this big game!
Overall
Jason Roy came in for Colin Munro in the last game and even though he hasn’t been too great in India in the past, he showed that hes’s capable of batting well here. Suddenly, their top 5 looks a solid one, much better than what it looked 5 days ago. I’m expecting this to be a thrilling contest, but since Delhi have always lacked consistency in the IPL, I’ll be backing Kolkata Knight Riders to win this game.
My tips in IPL 2018 were doing pretty well, until a little bad weekend that saw high scores coupled with good chases. We missed out on previews for the last 2 games but hoping to get them all up from now on. Kolkata should play an unchanged 11 and a lot of focus will be on the spinners and overseas players.
