In what comes as a bad news to the visiting nation on the tour to Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, one of their strike fast bowlers Tendai Chatara has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing 2nd Test match between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
Chatara went down on the field after bowling the first two deliveries of his 23rd over and grimaced in pain. He was then stretchered off the field with a muscle strain in his left leg. Donald Tiripano was introduced to complete the over. It was later revealed to be a Grade 2 quad muscle strain that ruled Chatara out of the 2nd Test match.
Before going down with injury, Chatara bowled 22.2 overs in the 1st innings of the 2nd Test match and also got the wicket of the centurion Mominul Haque (161 runs with 19 fours). He was economical too – conceded 34 runs in his 22.2 overs at a rate of just 1.52 runs per over. Chatara picked up 3 crucial wickets in the 1st innings of the 1st Test match in Sylhet which Zimbabwe won by a big margin of 151 runs.

Bangladesh veteran player Mushfiqur Rahim (219* with 18 fours and a six) scored a brilliant double century and went on to register the highest individual score by a Bangladesh player in their Test history. He surpassed Shakib al Hasan (217 vs New Zealand in 2017) in this innings to pass this milestone. In this knock against Zimbabwe, Rahim also got the support of his captain Mahmudullah who postponed the declaration until Rahim got to the milestone.
Bangladesh declared their 1st innings of the Test match with a mammoth 522 for 7 on the board. Let us hope the absence of the 11th player (Tendai Chatara) doesn’t hamper the emotions of the visitors who are about to create history in the longest format of the game! An away test series victory for them is rare.
Zimbabwe had won the first Test match of the 2-match series and are now leading the series by a margin of 1-0. Bangladesh had to win the ongoing Test match to level the series while a Draw or a Win in the second Test match helps Zimbabwe win the Test series!
