The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is reaching the end of its current season, with the league stage almost done and now just the main business-stage games left to be played. And as we’re reaching the fag end of the PSL 2022 season, the action is intensifying and so is the pressure. One such pressure moment was seen in yesterday’s match – Lahore Qalandars vs Peshawar Zalmi.
One of the leading pacers in the country, Haris Rauf plays for the Qalandars and he’s been racking up the bullet deliveries to batsmen from all other franchises. In yesterday’s game though, he wasn’t in the news for his fast bowling but a little bit of physical activity wit his own teammate as he was captured across hundreds of cameras where he is seen slapping his teammate.
Haris Rauf slaps Kamran Ghulam
The incident happened in PSL 2022 Match 30 on Monday night at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore where Peshawar Zalmi batted first and scored 158. The incident took place when Kamran Ghulam dropped a catch of Hazratullah Zazai off the bowling of Rauf. And while the tempers were high, Rauf got another opportunity to get a wicket later in the same over.
This time, it was the wicket of Mohammad Haris as he flicked it to fine leg and a high catch was taken by Fawad Ahmed on the boundary. And when Ghulam (who must’ve been very relieved) came to celebrate the wicket with his teammate, Rauf slapped him across the face and this incident was captured all over by multiple cameras.

Haris Rauf to get fined?
Showing dissent on the field often leads to players and cricketers getting fined and getting physical with someone really crosses a line, so we’ll have to wait and see what action is taken against Rauf for the same. In fact, it’s even worse for him as he decided to do it with a teammate itself. The matter was played down by Shaheen Afridi and David Wiese who were also pretty, celebrating when this happened.
Social media has been buzzing and Haris Rauf has been trending ever since this slapgate incident took place, taking us back to the Harbhajan Singh-Sreesanth issue that also took place many years ago. Some say that it was very non-sportsman like behaviour while others have defended Rauf saying that it was in the heat of the moment and done in a playful manner. See here:
