We’ve seen some really unique things in cricket but we’re sure you’ve not seen something like what we witnessed in the 2023 T20 Blast today in England. While several matches take place simultaneously, we’ll take you especially to the Warwickshire vs Derbyshire game where we saw the most comical and retarded dismissal of recent times.
Warwickshire put up a mammoth 203/7 in their 20 overs and from there, it was always going to be a tough chase. Derbyshire needed their openers to fire and they started well, but faltered in the middle overs. One of their openers is Pakistan’s Haider Ali who managed to get himself stumped in the most absurd fashion, having scored 48(34) in this game. .
Haider Ali stumping video goes viral
Ali has been in great form at the top of the order and he provided a much needed start before this bizarre dismissal took place on the second ball of the 11th over. Danny Briggs fired in a yorker length delivery and Ali stepped out, only to miss the ball which then went back to the wicket-keeper Alex Davies. The keeper initially missed the pickup, which allowed Ali an opportunity to get up and get into the crease.
In the fake stumping opportunity, Davies didn’t take off the bails, so he didn’t have to do much when Ali had a complete brain fade moment and decided to run done the pitch once again. Ridiculous batting and presence of mind from Ali and a pretty decent job from Davies as well, who coolly waited for the batter to step out again before whipping off the bails. .

Ali’s dismissal led to the fall of another two quick wickets which completely derailed the chances of Derbyshire to go on and win. However, captain Leus du Plooy came in and played an amazing knock of 66(25)* which included 4 fours and 5 sixes. He got them home in style, hitting another six to complete the chase with three balls to spare.
