This tournament has a very small history, the Global T20 Canada. And because they haven’t got a clear window from international cricket and other T20 leagues, there haven’t been a lot of players who played both completed seasons of this tournament. Apart from the local Canadian cricketers, only a handful of players played in both seasons in 2018 and 2019.
Global T20 Canada 2023 returned with the third seasons of this league and with that, we’ve started to dive into the many individual records in this competition so far. GT20 Canada most runs list
The first season in 2018 was headlined by Lendl Simmons who scored 300+ runs at a time where he was scoring runs in franchise leagues across the world. He was enjoying the twilight phase of his career and when the competition returned in 2019, a recently retired JP Duminy was the next top scorer, scoring 332 runs in his one and only season played in Canada.
Simmons on the other hand played both the seasons of this tournament, though he wasn’t available for Global T20 Canada 2023, which returned after a 4-year hiatus. Simmons does not feature in the 2023 GT20 Canada league which means he won’t hold the top spot in this tournament’s run scorer’s list for too long. Currently, he has 498 runs in 15 matches and this includes a lot of starts and not conversions, but he’s got only 2 fifties in these games. Rassie van der Dussen in second spot on the other hand, has 3 fifties in 13 games prior to the start of the 2013 season.

They’re followed by some more overseas players on this list of top 10 run scorers in the GT20 Canada, including West Indies’ Chris Gayle and Chadwick Walton, UAE’s Shaiman Anwar, South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen and JP Duminy, Hong Kong’s Babar Hayat, and Australia’s Chris Lynn. One sole Canadian to feature on this list is Rodrigo Thomas, who played only the 2019 season, but lit it up with 291 runs back then.
Anton Devcich, Andre Russell, and Moises Henriques are three players who narrowly missed this list, finishing outside the top ten.
