We’re all set for another edition of the very popular Bangladesh Premier League, this time carrying over into the next year too as the season runs between 11 December 2019 and 17 January 2020. BPL 2019/20 is the seventh edition of the tournament and Chattogram Challengers will be in action in the first of two games on the opening double header day.
Last season, Chattogram finished 4th in the points table and now, they play Sylhet Thunder in Match 1 of the tournament. Thunder didn’t have a great last BPL season, finishing 6th in the points table. Both teams will want to begin with a win here in Dhaka, where the first 8 games will be played. Keep reading for our PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy preview of the CCH vs SYL game…

Numbers

- Mohammad Mithun – 64 runs in 5 innings vs India recently.

Chattogram Challengers
Chris Gayle is currently at the Mzansi Super League while Lendl Simmons and Kesrick Williams are with the national side in India, so skip all these players. Pick the captain and all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad who is one of the best batsmen in Bangladesh who tends to bowl a lot more in the BPL as well. For my fantasy team, I’ll also pick opener Junaid Siddique as Imrul Kayes hasn’t been in the best of form recently.
Avishka Fernando has been one of the latest finds for Sri Lanka and the youngster has impressed one and all with a century in CWC 2019 and also scoring 51 in one of his three games at the 2019 Abu Dhabi T10 League. With the ball, the very experienced Rayad Emrit must be selected as he had 5 wickets in 6 games in Abu Dhabi and a successful CPL 2019 before that too. My x-factor player for today will be Zimbabwean all-rounder Ryan Burl.
Sylhet Thunder
The side will be captained by Mohammad Mithun and I’ll have him in my PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy team as he has international experience. He recently also scored a couple of fifties against Sri Lanka A in Sep-Oct 2019. He is set to open alongside Johnson Charles and the West Indian has displayed good form of late, also scoring a fifty in one game at the 2019 Abu Dhabi T10 League last month.
Sherfane Rutherford, Sheldon Cottrell, Andre Fletcher, Mohammad Sami, and Krishmar Santokie are all a part of the Qatar T10 League, so they’ll be unavailable for the start of BPL 2019/20. Mosaddek Hossain has no big scores or wickets in recent games but I’ll pick him only for his all-round abilities and his ability to clear the fence at ease. Picking 4 wickets in 2 Tests against India recently, Ebadot Hossain could be a good pick too.
