West Indies set out on a tour of Sri Lanka where they will play a total of 4 ODIs and 2 T20Is until the 6th of March 2020. Prior to this, they had one warm-up game against Sri Lanka Cricket XI where the latter managed to scrape through with a 2-wicket victory. Apart from the Windies openers being dismissed for ducks, the batting did fairly well.
Now, they play another tour game, this time against Sri Lanka Board President’s XI and the latter has a few players who have international experience too, so we’re expecting yet another tough contest while Windies will want to try out their bench strength. Sri Lanka Board President’s XI
The home side is being captained by Lahiru Thirimanne who has plenty of international experience under his belt, also having smashed 187* in an FC game against Badureliya earlier this month, so he’s a must-have. Recently out of the U-19 circuit, Pathum Nissanka is also a great talent who has been scoring plenty of runs across formats, but bagged a duck in the last warm-up game for SLC-XI.
With the ball, Asitha Fernando has been in great rhythm having a great domestic season and also picking 2/17 against Windies in the last warm-up game. We also have Asela Gunaratne in the squad, someone who made a great name for himself in international cricket with both bat and ball, before falling out due to injury. He hasn’t been great in recent months, but we all know his potential.
West Indies
The visitors will be led by Kieron Pollard but he barely had anything to do in the last game, as warm-ups are usually for those who need to boost their confidence, so I’ll skip him from my SLBP-XI vs WI fantasy team today. After months of playing extraordinary cricket, Shai Hope’s last 5 innings haven’t yielded him a better score than 25, including a duck in the last game, so he’s someone you can pick.
Nicholas Pooran and Sunil Ambris were good enough to get themselves retired in the last game, so I’d give Brandon King another chance, who also scored a duck in the last game. Fabian Allen might be a great player to have in your MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy team because of his all-round abilities. He was expensive in the last game but picked 2 wickets and scored 28(25).
