West Indies vs England – 3rd T20 Fantasy Preview

There are a couple of cricketing nations across the world who can stun you on one day with sheer brilliant performances and then go on and have a mighty collapse on another. These two are Pakistan and West Indies, both of whom have produced some of the finest world cricketers over the decades. Here, we’re talking about Windies and their collapse to 45/10 in the 2nd T20 against England.

They have had an absolutely amazing home tour so far, winning the Test series 2-1 and drawing the ODI series 2-2, both a couple of nights back, they ensured England a piece of silverware before they took the flight back home, gifting them the series, 2-0. Now, they play the 3rd T20 at the same ground in St. Kitts and you can get our complete fantasy preview of that game here…

Stats

  • West Indies lost their first T20 at this ground in the 2nd T20 a couple of nights back.
  • 182/6 is the highest score at this ground – England, March 2019.
  • Chris Gayle has only managed 20 runs in 2 games this series.
  • Chris Jordan has been amazing this series – 6/22 so far.

England

Sam Billings showed England what they have been missing all this time. His range of T20 shots was on display and after that breathtaking knock of 87 in the 2nd T20, his popularity in fantasy leagues would’ve shot up. I’m going to take a gamble and leave him out for this final game, picking Jonny Bairstow, Alex Hales, Joe Root and Joe Denly as my front line batsmen..

I believe Denly could be your x-factor player, as he has the ability to pick wickets but I would really like to watch him bat higher up the order. Eoin Morgan could be suffering from a little soreness after his collision with Tom Curran while taking a catch in the last game. England have the option of resting him for Dawid Malan, which means Root would take over captaincy duties.

West Indies

In the fantasy preview of the 2nd T20, I mentioned how the T20 specialists like David Willey will keep Chris Gayle in check and not give him width early on. Right enough, it was Willey who got him and I’d suggest you drop Gayle from your fantasy side for the 3rd T20 as well. In the last few years, I’ve noticed how Gayle takes his time to take off and maybe, the ODI format would suit him more at this point of time.

Gayle could even be rested to hand out a T20 debut to John Campbell. While Windies haven’t had the best T20 series so far, Sheldon Cottrell has continued his wicket-taking with 4 wickets in 2 games so far, so I’d keep him in my fantasy team. Someone who is extremely talented but hasn’t been used well enough in the last two games is Fabian Allen. After getting just one over in the 1st T20, Allen got his full quota of 4 overs in the 2nd T20 and picked up 2 wickets.
