West Indies will be playing host to a couple of touring nations in the 2019 West Indies U-19 tri-series, with 10 ODIs scheduled to take place between 6-21 December, all at the same ground in Antigua. To start off proceedings, both the touring sides will be in action. While the U-23 team is playing in the 2019 South Asian Games in Nepal, Sri Lanka U-19 team is set to have some fun in the Caribbean.
They will face off against England U-19 and it’s expected to be a tight game as both teams have been getting plenty exposure in recent months. There isn’t much of details available so pick both skippers and keep a close eye out on the toss too. Numbers
- Last 5 games head to head, Sri Lanka U-19 leads 4-0.
- George Balderson – 7 wickets in 5 games in recent England tri-series.
- Nipun Dananjaya – 3 fifties in last 8 games for Sri Lanka U-19.
- Rohan Sanjaya in last ten U-19 matches – 14 wickets.
England U-19
The side is being led by all-rounder George Balderson and he’s a must have, because he’s also spent some time with the Lancashire 2nd XI. He had a best of 3/60 with the ball and 56 with the bat in the recent tri-series at home. Bowling with the new ball, Joey Evison picked 3/46 as his best with the ball in that series and also scored a highest of 64 with the bat, so here’s another high-value fantasy player for you.
There are more all-r0unders. After scoring two consecutive fifties in that tri-series, Lewis Goldsworthy recently played a 4-day game and picked 4 wickets playing for Somerset 2nd XI, so he can do a bit of both too. If you’re looking for a specialist bowler, try the off-spinner Hamidullah Qadri who had 9 wickets in that tri-series and is now coming off 2 FC games for Derbyshire, and thus more experience.
Sri Lanka U-19
The team is being led by Nipun Dananjaya who has been among the runs in recent months and can try his hand with the ball sometimes too, picking 4/35 against Bangladesh U-19 in November. Wicket-keeping duties will be handed over to Kamil Mishara and he’s your pick for today, having scored 4 fifties and 2 centuries in his last 10 games including a best of 152 for Colombo U19s in July this year.
Middle-order batsman Ravindu Rasantha hasn’t had great scores but his last Youth ODI a couple of weeks back against BAN U-19 saw him scoring 84, so he’s a good pick for your MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy team. If he makes the playing eleven, Lakshan Gamage could be your x-factor all-rounder pick with 4 40+ scores in his last 4 games and also a couple of 2-wicket spells in recent games.
