These days, women’s sports is being considered as an equal to the men’s tournaments and that’s why the 2020/21 Women’s Super Smash T20 is kicking off on the same day as the men’s competition. The tournament is scheduled between 24 Dec 2020 – 14 Feb 2021 and to start this long tournament, we have Wellington Blaze Women to play in the opening game, in a replay of last year’s finale.
In the 2019 Women’s Super Smash T20 final, we had Wellington triumphing over Auckland Hearts Women by 36 runs and here’s a chance for the latter to get some redemption as they take each other on in Match 1 of the 2020/21 tournament at the Basin Reserve in Wellington! Keep reading for our complete My11Circle (Get Rs.500 FREE*) fantasy preview of the WB-W vs AH-W game…

Numbers
- Head to head in last 5 games, Wellington W leads 4-0.
- Last year’s final – Wellington W beat Auckland W by 36 runs.
- Wellington W in the last edition – 11 wins in 11 games!
- Jess Kerr – 20 wickets in 11 games in the last season.
- Katie Perkins scores in last 3 ODD games – 63, 45, 39.
Wellington Blaze
This team was unbeaten last season and one of the main reasons were the Kerr sisters. Jess Kerr ended as the top wicket-taker last season and we think she’ll be involved in the wicket-taking process this season as well. Along with her, we have the more experienced but younger Amelia Kerr who had 18 wickets last season and a few runs with the bat too. In the recent WBBL season, she had 17 wickets in 14 games too.
One of the biggest legends in New Zealand Women’s cricket, we have Sophie Devine in this team who had 369 runs and 13 wickets in 10 games last season and she’s another pick to be your WBW vs AHW fantasy team captain or vice-captain in today’s game. With a lot of experience at the international level, we have Leigh Kasperek who had 15 wickets last season and is fresh off a stint at the 2020 Women’s IPL as well.
Auckland Hearts
A less popular option for fantasy captain or vice-captain today could be Anna Peterson who has international experience and had a stellar 2019/20 season with 259 runs to go with 15 wickets with the ball, in just 12 matches. And if you want to go with a specialist batting pick for your WBW vs AHW fantasy team, choose Katie Perkins who had 5 fifties last season, ending as the highest run scorer of the tournament.

If there’s another slot in your all-rounders section, add Holly Huddleston in your My11Circle (Get Rs.500 FREE) WBW vs AHW fantasy team because she did a great job last season with 10 wickets and 142 runs with the bat. More wickets than her in the last season was Arlene Kelly and a couple of games ago, she also hit 110 with the bat in an ODD game, so there’s another potential match winner in this player.
