Midway through this tournament, you wouldn’t have fancied the chances of Sydney Thunder to go all the way in the 2021/22 Big Bash League. But suddenly, they’ve won 6 in a row now and despite being hit by Covid-19 cases, they’re looking like one of the teams to beat. They’re now in action in BBL 11 Match 47 as they play the first game of today’s weekday double header, with both games scheduled in the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne.
Thunder has 8 wins in 11 games and they’re facing Hobart Hurricanes who has only 5 wins in their 11 games in BBL 2021/22 and that alone tells us a story. Thunder even won the reverse fixture against this side but it’s going to be a tough game and a well-fought one, which could likely go down to the wire. Sydney Thunder
With Chris Green out in isolation, Jason Sangha has been leading the side and he’s been doing a great job too. He’s blossomed as a batsman this season and he really can’t be left out of our THU vs HUR fantasy team. In fact, most of the batsmen in this team are in great touch, with even all-rounder Daniel Sams coming in and smashing 98 in one of the matches this season, which makes him a great pick since he’s got 15 wickets too this season.
Sam Billings may be out but his countryman Alex Hales has hit prime form at the right time with two consecutive fifties after struggling to get runs earlier in the season. However, he’s hit the ball well in every game and there’s question of leaving him out of your THU vs HUR Dream11 team. Mohammad Hasnain was wicketless in the last game but 0/15 in 3 overs means he’s a big threat especially in the powerplay overs.
Hobart Hurricanes
One of the fastest bowlers in the Big Bash League, Riley Meredith has been struggling with just one wicket in his last 3 outings in BBL 11 but he had two consecutive 3-fers to begin this tournament and we know he’s capable of plenty more, so we’re picking him. Another person who has been having a poor time scoring runs is D’Arcy Short who has been struggling but he’s still getting slow runs, and wickets in almost every game too.

While he’s going to be in almost 100% of fantasy teams, we can’t leave Ben McDermott out of any MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) THU vs HUR fantasy teams as he’s having the season of his life with two centuries and another 90-odd score this season. With Matthew Wade out and Short coming lower down the order, it’s a better chance for Peter Handscomb to get runs as he’s been coming in at #3 of late.
