Imran Tahir is an automatic pick because of a wonderful IPL 2019 he had, followed by a great CWC 2019 and now, he has 15 wickets in 11 wickets this season. Not a part of the Ashes squad, Aaron Finch has been doing a good job as captain of Surrey, being their leading run-scorer with 284 runs so far. Pick him and the youngster Ollie Pope who is very close behind with 260 runs in his 10 games this season.
Somerset
The first two batsmen on this year’s tournament run charts are from Somerset and you have to pick both because of the amazing consistency. Babar Azam has scored several hundreds since landing in UK even before CWC 2019 and here too, he has 541 runs including 4 fifties and a century. Close behind him is Tom Banton who has 440 runs including 3 fifties and a century. These two have been the foundation of the batting order.
Edward Byrom is worth a pick in your Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy team if you wish to drop one of the above. He scored a fifty in his debut this season soon followed by a score of 44 but hasn’t scored much ever since, so won’t be a popular fantasy pick.
