Stats

  • 4 completed CWC 2019 games here – 3 won batting first.
  • Worcerstershire topped the North Group points table in 2018.
  • James Pattinson – 15 wickets in last 2 First Class games.
  • Harry Gurney – 20 wickets in 15 games at T20 Blast 2018.
  • Pat Brown – 31 wickets in 16 games at T20 Blast 2018.

Nottinghamshire

First, let’s talk about this teams superstar players. Their overseas buy Ravichandran Ashwin hasn’t always had the best record in the shorter formats of the game so I’ll leave him out of my team while James Pattinson may be a good pick considering his recent form in two longer format games for Notts and one for Australia A. Their third overseas player is a must have as he will be captaining the side as well – Daniel Christian. Christian had 415 runs in 15 games last year and he is always more than handy with the ball too.

With the ball, another good option could be Harry Gurney who is a T20 specialist bowler who would’ve got a massive confidence boost after his recent stint at IPL 2019 too. Tom Moores was their highest run scorer last year with 445 runs so he can be included while I’m expecting a lot from Alex Hales, who has a huge point to prove after recently missing the ICC 2019 World Cup due to failing a drug test. Hales has 54 and 59 in his last two innings for Notts.

Worcestershire

Pat Brown should be one of the first names of your team sheet and you should include him in any/all of your Nostragamus (sign-up with “READSCOOPS” for Rs.100 FREE) fantasy picks, considering he was the highest wicket-taker of the tournament last year. Along with him, former South African international Wayne Parnell did well too, picking up 14 wickets in 9 games. Parnell is a good option considering he has upped his batting skills in recent years too.

Calum Ferguson is one of their overseas picks and he had a good last season with the team scoring 390 runs in 10 games and he will form a vital part of that middle order. Another overseas duo they have is Hamish Rutherford and Martin Guptill and I will skip both the Kiwi batsmen, especially since Guptill managed only 186 run in 10 games at the World Cup. Ross Whiteley has hit 36 runs in an over in the past in this competition and he can be selected, while Joe Leach will captain the side.
