It’s always a massively long season when it comes to the T20 Blast and the 2019 edition is no different. Today will see another 6 Vitality Blast games being played and one of them is a North Group fixture between Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire. Both teams have won 4 games each in this tournament, with Notts having played 10 games and Leics having played 11.
One thing to keep in mind is that there will be rain around, considering both teams have lost 3 games each to rain this season. I’m tilting towards a Notts victory but remember, Leicestershire has held an advantage of them in recent years. - Mark Cosgrove – 221 runs in 9 games so far.
Leicestershire
First pick of the day for me has to be Colin Ackerman. Even though he’s not a regular bowler, he has managed to end as their leading wicket-taker especially because of an absolutely unbelievable 7/18 he picked against Birmingham. To add to that, he’s scored 270 runs, making him their leading run scorer as well. This includes 2 fifties this season. Arron Lilley is also a good choice as he has a fifty and a few starts, to go with 2 wickets this season.
Overall, Leics haven’t had many individual stand-out players so I’ll be selecting a 5-6 fantasy team in favour of Notts today. Gavin Griffiths could be a good pick with the ball as he has 9 wickets in his 8 games this season including 2/22 the last time the team played Notts. Another bowling option could be Callum Parkinson who has 9 wickets in 10 games but I’d suggest only picking one of these two bowlers.
Nottinghamshire
Easily the most experienced player in the Outlaws squad, Samit Patel played a game for Glamorgan on load but he return to Notts for this game and he hasn’t been outstanding this season, but he is never far away from a game-changing performance. Patel puts in valuable contributions each year and so far, he only has 4 wickets, 56 runs in 7 games. This high value player can even be picked as your vice-captain.
Having played for several franchises around the world, Harry Gurney is a specialist T20 bowler and here, he has managed 13 wickets in just 7 games, so he should surely be a part of your Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy team. With the bat, Alex Hales is the one with the biggest point to prove, after his shameful miss of the ICC 2019 World Cup because of a doping ban. Expect him to go well for the rest of the 2019 Vitality T20 Blast.
