It’s been a long domestic season here in India with the Vijay Hazare Trophy followed by the Deodhar Trophy and now, the most exciting of them all – the 2019 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The T20 tournament is usually played in the first half of the year but this time, the tournament will have a total of 149 T20s scheduled to take place between 8 November and 1 December 2019.
We’re expecting some thrilling games to take place and no rain to disturb the results of any of these games now. A total of 37 regional teams are taking part and the action begins with 18 matches lined up for the first day itself, including Kerala playing Tamil Nadu in this Group B game, the latter recently reaching the Vijay Hazare final. Numbers
- Head to head in last 5 games, Tamil Nadu leads 3-2.
- Robin Uthappa – only 102 runs in 8 games in the Vijay Hazare Cup.
- Jalaj Saxena at 2019 Deodhar Trophy – 10 wickets in 3 games.
- Baba Aparajith – 598 runs and 11 wickets in the 2019 Vijay Hazare.
Kerala
The Kerala side is begin led by Robin Uthappa who has been one of the most consistent players in the Indian circuit, so he’s my wicket-keeper pick for today. Uthappa didn’t do well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy but prior to that, he had 282 runs in 12 games in IPL 2019. One player you can’t miss is all-rounder Jalaj Saxena who picked a record 7/41 in the opening game of the Deodhar Trophy and then had 1 wicket in the final along with 37*.
Sandeep Warrier played just one game in that Deodhar Trophy and ended wicketless with 0/49 but he’s an exciting pacer who should be a part of your fantasy side today. Another pacer you can add to your team is Basil Thampi who had 9 wickets in 5 games at the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy and he comes with plenty of IPL experience too. Their best bowler in that tournament though had to be KM Asif who had 14 wickets in just 7 games.
Tamil Nadu
This very strong team starts as favourites today led by wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik who you shouldn’t miss in your MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy team, having scored 400+ runs in Vijay Hazare. With two top scores of 117 and 94 in 8 games at Vijay Hazare, Murali Vijay is also in good form, but I’l take a punt and leave him out. Instead, I’ll pick all-rounder Baba Aparajith as my captain or vice-captain.
Aparajith had a magnificent Vijay Hazare Trophy and he backed it up with a fifty and hundred in the Deodhar Trophy 2019 too. He will pick wickets but if I had to pick a specialist bowler, it would be Murugan Ashwin and Ravichandran Ashwin, the latter leading the side in the last edition of this tournament earlier this year. All-rounder Vijay Shankar is another high-value fantasy pick with national team experience.
