South Africa A recently set out on a tour of India where they will play 5 unofficial ODIs and 2 unofficial Tests in the next couple of weeks. So far, only one game has been played and that was an easy victory for the hosts India A. After batting first and putting up a massive score of 327 in the 1st ODI, India A managed a 69-run victory in a rain-affected game.
India A has the same squad for the first three ODIs while South Africa A has the same squad right through the series. India’s batsmen are all in such good form, it’s tough to pick only 2 or 3. Shubman Gill has 3 fifties and a massive 204* in his last 10 games for India A. He even scored 46 in the 1st ODI but I’ll pick his opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad instead. After two two consecutive, unbeaten, centuries against Sri Lanka A a couple of months back, he as scored a string of 50+ scores too. His last 3 games for India A have gone without a fifty so he’ll be hungry to get another big one.
Manish Pandey has also been in fabulous form with scored of 102*, 58* and 53* in three games at KPL 2019 before getting 39 here in the 1st ODI. Pick Pandey as he’s in prime form and he’s also captaining the side! With the ball, it was no surprise to see Yuzvendra Chahal picking a 5-for and I’m expecting him to keep picking wickets here in this series. Vijay Shankar has been ruled out of the series.
South Africa A
After 5 innings with no big score, Reeza Hendricks came into his own in the 1st ODI and top scored for his side with a score of 110. However, I’d rather pick his opening partner in my PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy team. Janneman Malan has been scoring fifties for fun for SA-Emerging Team in the last month or two and his rare failure of 18 means there won’t be many teams picking him; he’s a high-value player today.
Another player who I fancy to do well is captain Temba Bevuma, who also failed with a score of 8 in the last game. However, he had two consecutive centuries before this tournament began, so he’s not in too bad form either. With the ball, Beuran Hendricks and Bjorn Fortuin picked 2 wickets each and I’ll pick Hendricks too considering he will know conditions better after also being picked to the IPL 2019 earlier this year.
