The Shpageeza Cricket League 2019 is underway and after an opening game on 7th October, we have a couple of match-ups lined up for 8th October including Match 2 between Boost Defenders and Mis Ainak Knights. Match 3 of the tournament begins a few hours later at the same ground, and this one takes place between Amo Sharks and Speen Ghar Tigers at the same venue in Kabul.
The opening game at the same pitch saw 200+ nearly being chased down so I’d suggest a batting-heavy fantasy team for this game and for the rest of the series. Among their biggest international names will have to be Shapoor Zadran, someone who has been out of the international squad since a while but he picked 4 wickets in his last 2 T20Is against Bangladesh last year. The next big name playing for the senior team is Rahmat Shah and this youngster recently became Afghanistan’s first test centurion with 102 against Bangladesh last month. He had a good CWC 2019 and bowls sometimes too.
The team will be captained by Mirwais Ashraf and he hasn’t gone wicketless in any of his last 6 List A games for Amo Region. What’s better is that he often contributes with the bat too, with a top score of 70 in one of those games. Watch out for Ibrahim Zadran who has a few fifties for Afghanistan in recent months including a massive 127 for Afghan A vs Bangladesh A in July this year. Wicket-keeper batsman Ikram Alikhil has 2 fifties in recent games and also scored a lovely 86 vs West Indies in CWC 2019.
Speen Ghar Tigers
The Tigers have a strong bowling attack as the young 20-year old Zahir Khan is recently coming off a good stint at CPL 2019 where he picked 8 wickets in 7 games for Jamaica Tallawahs. They also have the services of the very experienced Hamid Hassan and even though his last 5 ODIs saw him picking just 1 wicket, he bowls with a lot of heart and if he manages full fitness, he could be a major wicket-taker this season.
Former international player Karim Sadiq can also be added to your MyFab11(sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy team as he has been among the wickets including a spell of 6/55 in an FC game for Boost Region earlier this year. One player to watch out for is 28-year old Najeeb Tarakzai as he has a couple of centuries including a career-best 200 this year, which he scored for Speen Ghar in April. The team will be captained by wicket-keeper batsman, Shafiqullah.
