Sheffield Shield 2020 – WAU vs NSW Fantasy Preview

It’s the 2020 Sheffield Shield which is the highest FC competition in Australia and it’s a gateway to being picked in the national side as well. The competition already began last week and will run up til mid November 2020. In Match 4, we have Western Australia in action and they began their campaign with a massive 205-run victory in their first game against South Australia.

You can refer to their first game scorecard for an idea of possible team combinations while they play New South Wales in this round. NSW hasn’t played a game yet this season so be careful while choosing players but they’ve usually had a hold over Western Australia in recent encounters. Western Australia

The side is being led by Shaun Marsh who may be 37 years old now but he’s one of the most experienced players in this tournament and even though he’s short on game time in recent months, he scored an unbeaten century in the opening game. With scores of 46 and 71 in the opening game, we think Cameron Bancroft will be crucial to the team’s success, opening with the bat.

In the all-rounders department, we have Ashton Agar who is now also a regular part of the Australia national side and in the last game, he was adjudged player of the game with 6 wickets and 114* in the 1st innings, making him a good pick for fantasy captain or vice-captain. Cameron Gannon now plays for USA but plays his domestic cricket in Australia, picking 5 wickets in the last game and having a good last season for Queensland.

New South Wales

The side is being led by wicket-keeper Peter Nevill but we’re leaving him out of our WAU vs NSW fantasy team because he’s not been in the best touch with the bat. Instead, pick someone like Daniel Hughes who is one player who could reach the Australian national side. In February this year, he scored twin centuries in an FC game against South Australia.

Another person worth picking to score runs in this game is Kurtis Patterson who made his Test debut last year and has a best of 114* in just 2 innings so far for Australia. Trent Copeland has 12 wickets in his last 2 FC games and is a must pick in your My11Circle (Get Rs.500 Bonus*) fantasy team while Moises Henriques can be dropped because he doesn’t bowl much anymore.
