Another day and another victory for the away team. The 2019 Saudari Cup is an annual 3-day T20 series taking place between Singapore Women and Malaysia Women. Two days and both games have been won by the visiting team so far. However, they will have to play the third and final game today as well, at the same ground – IAG, Singapore. This is the 6th consecutive year Malaysia Women has won the Saudari Cup.
So there’s nothing but pride to play for for the home team. Both games have been low scoring ones that have provided assistance to spinners, so I’d recommend going heavy on bowlers and all-rounders, similar to what we did in the last game. Singapore Women
Roshni Seth was brought in for Pasupathy who hasn’t had a double-digit score in her career, but the same goes for Seth. In yesterday’s 2nd T20 too, she was run out for 4. Skip both these players. Opening partner Smruthi Radhakrishnan has also had a bad time with the bat, with scores of 2 and 3 so far. However, she has a wicket from the 1st T20 and a score of 18 just before this series, so we know she’s capable of scoring runs too.
With the wicket-keeper pick too, we mentioned in the fantasy preview of the 2nd T20 how both team’s keepers hadn’t had a double digit score in any of their respective last 10 games. However, Singapore captain Shafina Mahesh at least bats up the order and gets more of a hit. She has scores of 5 and 6 this series. GK Diviya is a must have and picking her as captain really paid off. She bowled 0/11 in 4 overs and scored 31(49) with the bat.
Malaysia Women
Winifred Duraisingham was the the first selection in my PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy team of the 2nd T20 and it paid off big as she was the player of the match, scoring 40(38)* and winning the game for her team. She bowled too and returned with figures of 0/17 in 4 overs. Once again, she can be at least vice-captain of your fantasy team, if not captain.
With the bat, Mas Elysa recorded her career-best score of 37 in the 1st T20 and then bettered it with 38* in the 2nd T20 so she should be in your team because of the high consistency she’s showed so far. Wan Nor Zulaika went wicketless in the last game but her 2 wickets in the first game makes me pick her. Also watch out for Nur Nadihirah who has bowled at a miserly economy rate of 3.8 this series so far, to go with a wicket.
