The Pakistan Super League 2020 kicked off today and it seems to be a fun tournament already. The Karachi pitch looked good for batsmen, though it seemed good for spinners too. We’re playing Match 2 on the same wicket and Karachi Kings will be in action here, finishing fourth in the PSL 2020 points table with 5 wins in 10 games last year.
Peshawar Zalmi had a fabulous season last year, with 7 win in 10 games which also saw them topping the points table, finishing runner-up to Quetta after losing the final last year. Both will want to begin this PSL 2020 season with a victory. Keep reading for our complete Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy preview of the KAR vs PES game…

Numbers
- Head to head in last 5 games, Peshawar leads 4-1.
- Imad Wasim – only 4 wickets in last 10 professional games.
- Babar Azam in last 10 games – 5 centuries and 5 fifties.
- Tom Banton – top score of 32 in 6 international games so far.
Karachi Kings
Leading the Karachi side is all-rounder Imad Wasim who hasn’t been in great form with either bat or ball. However, he has international experience and is more confident in such domestic leagues, so I expect him to do well. With some fabulous form on his side, Babar Azam is good enough to be made your fantasy captain while Awais Zia is an experienced local player who can be useful with the bat as well.
With the ball, Mohammad Amir is one of Pakistan’s best bowlers and he should be in your KAR vs PES fantasy team as well, having picked 20 wickets in 13 games in the recent BPL 2019 season in Bangladesh. Apart from him, USA’s Ali Khan and his late swingers could be very useful in such conditions. I’ll pick him if he manages to make the team which allows a total of 4 overseas players.
Peshawar Zalmi
English opener Tom Banton hasn’t been getting the big scores for the national side, but he had 2 fifties in his last 3 games for Brisbane Heat before that. With only 3 double digit scores in his last 10 outings, Darren Sammy is leading the side but I’ll drop him because of the bad form. Instead, we can pick national side opener Imam-ul-Haq who had a good season in PSL 2019 as well.
There are quite a few foreign players in the squad but we can only choose 4. One player who is expected to surely make the side is all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite who has been good in recent games, with 17 wickets in his last 10 games, so you can pick him in your Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy team too. T20 specialist Lewis Gregory is also in the squad and is likely to make the playing eleven too.
