We’ve had a few days of break at the 2020/21 Super Smash and Women’s Super Smash tournaments but we’re all set to get back to action on 8th Jan. Prior to the men’s game of the day taking place, we have Match 11 of the women’s tournament where Otago Sparks takes on Central Hinds at Dunedin. A few hours later, we have Match 11 of the men’s Super Smash 2020/21 taking place at the same ground in Dunedin.
In fact, the same teams will also be participating as Otago Volts are in action, against the Central Districts Stags. Both of them have 2 wins each so far this season, with Otago getting there in 3 games and Central Stags taking a game more, though the latter is ahead with a more superior net run rate. Keep reading for our complete BatBall11 (Code “READ123“) fantasy preview of the OV vs CS game…

Stats that matter
- Last 4 completed games head to head, Stags leads 3-1.
- Last 4 games this tournament – all won batting second.
- Matthew Bacon – 15 wickets in his last 9 limited overs games.
Otago Volts
Leading the tournament count in terms of wickets taken is Matthew Bacon who has got two 3-fers in three games and has not gone wicketless in any of his last 9 limited overs games, so he’s one of the first picks in my OV vs CS fantasy team today. Apart from him, they have Michael Rippon in the side who has 4 wickets in 3 games and usually manages to contribute with the bat as well, with a top score of 17 so far this season.
Another person who can bowl well and then contribute with runs at the bottom of the order is Mitchell McClenaghan who has only managed 3 wickets in 3 games but he’s super experienced having played T20 leagues across the world, and he can hit the big ball as well. Safe pick with the bat could be Neil Broom and even Hamish Rutherford who have both got international experience and both have been in good touch recently.
Central Districts Stags
It’s been the most amazing season for George Worker so far with 2 fifties and a lowest score of 23 in 4 games. He bowls at times too and has got a wicket as well, so he’s even worth being the captain or vice-captain of your BatBall11 (Code “READ123“) fantasy team. Talking about a fantasy captain pick, Kieran Noema-Barnett is a prime choice. Though he’s failed with the bat, he’s managed 4 scalps in 4 games so far.

With the ball, Blair Tickner has got himself 4 wickets in 7 games and he’s a regular among the wickets. Given his international experience, he’s a definite pick for our OV vs CS fantasy team today. Someone who can be your x-factor player in this game is Christian Leopard who has been failing with the bat and won’t be a popular pick for today’s game; he once bowled and bagged 2/4 in a single over too.
