New Zealand will be playing host to Pakistan for a series of 3 T20Is before we shit to the longer formats. While New Zealand have the home advantage, they haven’t had the best of records in T20 cricket in recent times. Earlier this year, they hosted Team India and they were whitewashed 5-0 and this time, they’re missing some of their senior players, so there are even more at a disadvantage.
As for Pakistan, it’s a good chance to improve their overseas record and exploit a lesser experienced NZ side. I’d expect more batting picks in our fantasy team because of smaller grounds at Auckland, which means we’re expecting a first innings batting total of 190-200+. Numbers
- Last 5 games head to head, Pakistan leads 5-0.
- New Zealand – won only 7 of their 22 T20Is here.
- Martin Guptill – 576 runs in 15 T20Is at this ground.
- Last 5 games at this ground – all won batting second.
New Zealand
Among the senior members of the NZ squad is Martin Guptill who isn’t in the greatest of form right now but he’s got a great record at this ground, with 4 fifties and a century in 15 previous T20Is at Eden Park. Among the newbies, keep an eye out for Devon Conway who scored 65* and 41 in two internationals since his debut for New Zealand and he had a couple of unbeaten forties for New Zealand A prior to that and 157 for Wellington prior to that.
With the ball, Lockie Ferguson got a stress fracture at the last moment. Southee and Boult aren’t in the side either but Jacob Duffy is someone ho has been among the wickets in the domestic circuit and he’s surely to be picked in your NZ vs PAK fantasy team if he makes the team. Williamson is also unavailable which makes Mitchell Santner the captain and this all-rounder should surely be selected today as well.
Pakistan
Babar Azam is out with an injury which means leg-spinner Shadab Khan has the chance to lead the side and he’s surely to be picked because he will be a floater in the batting lineup as well. Like him, we think there’s another all-round spinner in Imad Wasim who doesn’t have the best international record but he’s sure to contribute in either department, also likely to open the bowling with the ball as well.

With the bat, they may be slightly lacking but we think Mohammad Hafeez should be added to your My11Circle (Get Rs.500 Bonus*) NZ vs PAK fantasy team because hes super experienced and he’s only been getting better with age, sometimes bowling as well. Among the younger boys, there’s Haider Ali who only recently made his international debut where he impressed one and all in a fifty scored in England.
