The Mzansi Super League 2019 resumes at Centurion and today, we have table toppers Paarl Rocks in action, a team which has been brilliant this year with 4 wins in 6 games. They now play Match 19 of MSL 2019, against a team that hasn’t been particularly good this season, Tshwane Spartans.
Spartans have only 2 wins in their 5 games so far and they will need a couple of consecutive wins if they want to stay in the competition. What’s to be noted though is that Spartans had 3 games washed out which means they haven’t lost a game yet. Numbers
- Head to head in this tournament, Spartans leads 3-0.
- James Vince so far this tournament – 86*, 43, 23, 37.
- Tabraiz Shamsi – 9 wickets in games so far this season.
Tshwane Spartans
Captain Dean Elgar has 2 fifties in the side’s 4 completed games so far with a best of 88* and since he’s a regular part of the national side, he becomes an important pick here too. Of course, one cannot drop AB de Villiers who has one good score of 53 and 31 in the rest of his 3 games. I’ll take a massive punt and leave him out for Theunis de Bruyn who has 88 runs in 4 games so far, but is better than these numbers.
The most experienced of the bowlers has to be Morne Morkel who has 6 wickets in 4 games, but I’ll skip him for fellow pacer Tom Curran, who has 4 wickets in 3 games, mostly from the 3-fer in the last game. Lungi Ngidi has not been at his best with 3 wickets in 4 games but he should be picked as he’s one of the better young talents going around currently.
Paarl Rocks
First player to join my Nostragamus (sign-up with “READSCOOPS” for Rs.100 FREE) fantasy team has to be England’s James Vince who has 189 runs in 4 games and has been greatly consistent. He will continue as he isn’t with the test squad in New Zealand. National side skipper Faf du Plessis hasn’t had the best times so far with only 91 runs in 5 games, and this is the right time to pick him.
Left arm chinaman bowler Tabraiz Shamsi has been having the time of his life in this tournament with at least a wicket in every game and a best of 3/16 in the first game. Along with him, overseas pick Isuru Udana can be a part of your fantasy team today because of his many variations and the fact that the Sri Lankan can bat if required too.
