We know the format is different but Krishnappa Gowtham is coming off a phenomenal season in the 2019 Karnataka Premier League, having also picked an 8-fer and scored a top of 134*. He bagged a duck but picked 4 wickets in the opening test and he’s surely a part of my team here. Another spinner who has been doing brilliantly in recent times is Shahbaz Nadeem and I’ll pick him too, considering he bagged 5 wickets in the 1st Test.
With the bat, Priyank Panchal has been brought in for Ruturaj Gaikwad. Both have had a string of low scores in recent times but since not many will be selecting Panchal, I’ll go for him and maybe even skip the in-from Shubman Gill. Wriddhiman Saha joins the squad as captain and I’ll pick him fro sure. Recently, he played two FC games against Windies A and he scored a fifty in each of those games.
South Africa A
It hasn’t been the best of seasons for Aiden Markram with only 140 runs in 8 games at the CWC 2019 with a best of 45 in the opening game. In the last game too he scored 4 runs across two innings so I’ll drop him from my Nostragamus (sign-up with “READSCOOPS” for Rs.100 FREE) fantasy picks for the 2nd Test. Pieter Malan also gets the drop in my team, having scored exactly the same runs at Markram in both innings.
Zubayr Hamza is probably one of the lesser known players in the SA-A squad but he did well with scores of 13, 44 in the 1st Test. Additionally, he had a few unbeaten List A fifties for Cape Cobras earlier this year, so he’s no muck with the bat. With the ball, pick their spinner too as Dane Piedt picked 4 wickets in the 1st Test including 1 in just 4.4 overs in the 2nd innings.
