As usual, the Caribbean Premier League hasn’t failed to entertain crowds around the world, with wickets tumbling and massive scores also being posted. Now, we move to to Darren Sammy’s Stadium for Match 17 of CPL 2019 where a suffering Barbados Tridents team meets another team that hasn’t had the best of seasons so far, St Lucia Zouks.
Tridents have managed 1 win in 3 games while Zouks have got 1 win in 4 games in CPL 2019 so far. The Zouks will play two games back-to-back here in St Lucia, the following day also playing against Trinbago. Numbers
- Last 5 games head to head, Zouks lead 3-2.
- Rahkeem Cornwall – 149 runs in 4 games thus far.
- Thisara Perera has departed for national duties.
- Obed McCoy – 7 wickets in 4 games in CPL 2019.
St Lucia Zouks
The big man Rahkeem Cornwall recently picked 3 wickets on test debut and while he has no wickets in CPL 2019 so far, he has been among the runs. This guy can certainly be your captain or vice-captain today. Age seems to be catching up with captain Daren Sammy so I’ll skip him but we have another might Kiwi all-rounder in the squad – Colin de Grandhomme.
All-rounder Thisara Perera has left the squad to be with the Sri Lanka camp and he has been replaced by Colin Ingram. While Cameron Delport is also on the bench, we’re expecting Ingram to fit straight into the Zouks set up. With the ball, Obed McCoy has been the highest wicket-taker so far with 7 scalps, but I also fancy leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed, who has 6 victims so far. Remember, Fawad was the top bowler in CPL 2018.
Barbados Tridents
Pakistan’s Asif Ali has left the squad to go play in domestic cricket back home and that paves the way for the might all-rounder Daniel Christian who I will pick right away, coming off a successful stint with the Notts in England. Shai Hope is still uncertain so we can leave him out. I’m a huge fan of all-rounders in T20 cricket so I’ll pick JP Duminy who has 94 runs in his 3 games so far in CPL 2019.
Another player I can’t leave out of my Nostragamus (sign-up with “READSCOOPS” for Rs.100 FREE) fantasy picks is Jason Holder who has 5 wickets so far in 3 games and he can be handy with the bat when needed too. Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane is also a good pick who has 4 wickets in 3 games thus far, but we know how he is capable of bamboozling batsmen with his mystery spin.
