The 2019 Women’s National Cricket League has begun and after 3 games being played yesterday, we have one match today and that’s Match 5 between Queensland Women and Tasmania Women. In recent games between these two, Queensland has enjoyed most of the success but this year, they have begun with a loss to Western Australia.
As for Tasmania, they also began with a loss this season against the same team, Western Austrtalia. Both teams have a couple of players who aren’t available for this clash, so check carefully before picking your fantasy team. Numbers
- Last 5 games head to head, Queensland Women lead 4-1.
- Georgia Redmayne last 3 scores for Tasmania W – 43, 77, 29.
- Sammy-Jo Johnson – 10 games since the last time she went wicketless.
- Meg Phillips – 11 runs, 2/43 in last game vs WA Women.
Queensland Women
We spoke about how captain Kirby Short hasn’t had a big score in quite a while and her duck in the last game is another reason for me to drop her from my fantasy team. Instead, I’ll pick wicket-keeper batter Georgia Redmayne who has been among the runs in recent games. Queensland is still without Delissa Kimmince, Beth Mooney, and Jess Jonassen.
Another person you want in your fantasy team is Grace Harris who only scored 8 runs in the last game and didn’t pick a single wicket. However, she opens the batting and bowls her complete quota of 10 overs, so you can’t miss this player. Sammy-Jo Johnson picked a 3-fer in the last game and she has also been among the wickets in almost all of her last games.
Tasmania Women
Captain Brooke Hepburn scored 18 in the last game but it was her first double-digit score in more than 10 games, so she’s not someone I want in my fantasy team. A lot of players will also be picking Belinda Vakarewa after she picked 3/27 in the last game but remember, she had only 2 wickets in 9 games prior to that. Skip her for Meg Phillips who opens the batting and also bowls her complete quota.
Don’t pick Nicola Carey in your Nostragamus (sign-up with “READSCOOPS” for Rs.100 FREE) fantasy picks as she isn’t available in the squad yet. Erin Fazackerley is a good all-rounder pick as she scored 27 in the last game and also bowled, while having 52 runs in her last game at the 2019 WBBL too.
