A historic announcement was made as Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) set out on a tour of Pakistan where they would play 3 T20Is and a one day game. They played the first tour game against Lahore Qalandars and began the tour on a winning note, winning by 4 wickets in the final over. The 50-over game is currently underway and now, they play the 2nd T20 against Northern.
Apart from the first game which was hosted at Gaddafi Stadium, all the other games are scheduled to be played at Aitchison College in Lahore. MCC is expected to play the same squad they played in the 1st T20, while Northern has a younger, all-Pakistani squad for this game. Numbers
- Rohail Nazir – 80 and 70 in last FC game for Northern.
- Ali Imran – 8 wickets in 4 games at the Qatar T10 League.
- Ross Whiteley once hit 6 sixes in an over in an English T20 game.
Northern
The side is being led by recent U-19 captain Rohail Nazir who has been in a rich vein of form in recent months, with the U-19 World Cup being a slight exception. Prior to that, he’s had plenty of big scores. 21-year old Ali Imran is another good pick because of his all-round abilities, having recently displayed them at the 2019 Qatar T10 League, where he bagged wickets and also scored a best of 53*.
Talking about bowling and picking wicket, Munir Riaz has 8 wickets in his 4 games so far for the Pakistan U-19 team, which means he could get a game as well. Left-arm all-rounder and the very experienced Nauman Ali is also in the squad, with 224 wickets and 10 fifties in 69 First Class games. All-rounders are important in fantasy cricket and that’s why he should be picked as well, maybe even as captain or vice-captain.
Marylebone Cricket Club
Roelof van der Merwe has played plenty of international cricket for Netherlands and South Africa and the all-rounder also picked 2/17 in the first game against Lahore, so he should be in your MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy team. Talking about all-rounders, we also have England’s Ravi Bopara in the side who led his team to victory after 42(37) against Lahore, and he bowls well in such conditions too.
Another worthy all-rounder is Samit Patel who has played almost every T20 league across the world, including here in Pakistan before. While he only bowled a single over in the last game, he scored a thirty and he can be picked as well. If you want a specialist batsman, it could be 24-year old Will Rhodes who failed with a score of 3 in the last game, but had 3 fifties in 4 games for MCC prior to this series.
