We all expected there to be a very much one-sided result in the 1st T20 between Nepal and Malaysia, and it went exactly as planned as the visitors won by 7 wickets with around 9 balls to spare. Now, we’re set for the 2nd and final T20 of this short series, played out on the morning of the same day that England and New Zealand compete in the final of the 2019 ICC World Cup at Lords.
With the historical statistic of this ground being that almost all matches here have been won by the team batting second, it was a questionable decision by Malaysia of batting first after winning the toss. A major keey to success in the 2nd T20 will be fielding first after winning the toss and you can keep reading for our complete Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy preview of the MAL vs NEP 2nd T20…

Malaysia
We spoke about how all-rounders are vital in T20 cricket and I’m going to continue picking those who can contribute with bat and ball both, beginning with Muhamad Syahadat. Up against a good Nepal bowling attack, Syhadat only managed 8 with the bat and an expensive single over so there won’t be many people picking him in their fantasy league teams for the 2nd T20. He thus becomes a value bomb player in grand leagues.
Another all-rounder who did well in the recent tri-series here at this same ground is Syed Aziz who also won’t be picked by many after his golden duck in the 1st T20. He is also thrown the ball on most occasions, so he’s a worthy pick in fantasy teams. The wicket-keeper slot can also come from this team as Shafiq Sharif scored 127 runs in 4 games in that tr-series. He failed in the 1st T20 with 2(7) but remember, he also bagged a duck in the first game of the tri-series.
Nepal
I chose Paras Khadka as my captain in the 1st T20 and he paid good dividends, scoring 86(50)* and winning the Man of the Match award. He tends to bowl sometimes too and that’s an added benefit; here, he got 0/4 in 1 over. His popularity in the fantasy league will have increased so choosing him as captain again may not be the bets choice, but he must be in your team regardless.
With the ball, there is Basant Regmi who has been a good servant of Nepal cricket since a few years now, also picking up a valuable 2/28 in the 1st T20. Another must-have is the young Sandeep Lamichhane who has played in leagues such as BBL, PSL and IPL at such a young age. He got 2/25 in the 1st T20 and dropping him from your Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy team is not even an option.
