With so much of international action taking place, it only makes sense for the associate nations and the lesser playing countries to also get some game-time. We have the 2021 Nepal T20I tri-series taking place between 17-24 April 2021 and here, all matches will be played at the same ground at Kirtipur. Historically, we’ve seen a mix of high and low scores at this ground, so we’re not too sure what one can expect here yet.
Hosts Nepal will be playing the opening game of this T20 tri-series 2021 and they will have a big chance against the very experienced and higher exposed Netherlands side. The only problem is that the latter hasn’t played too much in these parts of the world in recent times, and we expect spinners to do well here. Numbers
- Head to head in last 5 games, they are tied 2-2.
- In 3 previous T20Is here, Nepal have won all.
- Paras Khadka – 119 runs in last ODD game for Bagmati.
Nepal
One of the first picks in my NEP vs NED fantasy team today will have to be Dipendra Singh Airee who has managed 16 wickets in his last 10 ODD games which includes a fifty and a century, so we need such all-round performers in our team. Then of course, there’s the very experienced Paras Khadka who hasn’t been in the form of his life but is still one of the better players here, coming off a century in his last game.
Not many people know about 20-year old all-rounder Pawan Sarraf but he’s been around since a while and in the latest Nepal ODD tournament, he’s got 13 scalps in his last 4 games while getting runs as well, so he’s worth picking as captain or vice-captain of your NEP vs NED Dream11 team. Sandeep Lamichhane should be unavailable for this series because of his commitments at the IPL 2021 season in India.
Netherlands
With 14 wickets in his 9 games at the 2019 ICC T20 Qualifier in Dubai, Paul van Meekeren was one of the team’s vital players and we think he should be picked here as well, as his pace and swing may be tough for Nepal batters to negotiate here. In that same tournament, it was Ben Cooper who got 246 runs in 9 games and though he got only 1 fifty, he was very consistent right through, which may continue here as well.

Ryan ten Doeschate and Roelof vd Merwe aren’t a part of the squad which means added responsibilities on the shoulders of captain Pieter Seelaar who may contribute in both departments and can be in your PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234“) NEP vs NED fantasy team. If you need an additional batting option, 21-year old Bas de Leede is coming off a good domestic season and could be picked as well.
