The National T20 Cup is the premier domestic T20 tournament in Pakistan and the 2019 season will take place between 13-24 October and a total of 6 teams will battle it out in the round robin stage before we move to the playoffs. Match 1 of the tournament takes place between Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Faisalabad on the opening day’s double header.
Last year, 8 teams participated in this tournament but this year it will be only 6. Balochistan
Balochistan will be led by Haris Sohail who is a regular part of the national team and these experienced players should all be picked in your fantasy team. Sohail has 2 fifties in 3 games against Sri Lanka recently and 4 fifties in his last 7 international outings, so he’s clearly in great form. Imran Farhat and Imam ul Haq will open the innings, with Imam having 2 centuries in his last 3 games, so the form is good here too.
23-year old Hussain Talat will come out to bat in the middle order and while he hasn’t had any great performances in recent months, he is a talented player who can bowl as well. He made his international debut recently and has 2 T20I fifties in 14 games. Leg-spinner Yasir Shah will not be available for the first few games while Umar Gul could be a good option with the ball, who has played 47 Tests for the national side.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
This team will be led by wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan who has been in outstanding form but hasn’t been getting a chance at the national side. Fakhar Zaman will open the innings and there’s no way you can drop this guy from your team.
With the ball, there are a couple of very talented left-arm pacers in Usman Khan Shinwari and Junaid Khan. Shinwari has been with the Pakistan squad in recent times while Junaid has been among the most consistent wicket-takers in recent years, but has been ignored by the selectors. If you have no budget restrictions, pick both. Or else, I’ll go with Junaid Khan as my first option.
