It’s the first day of the 2019 Mumbai T20 League and after Aakash Tigers play Triumph Knights in Game 1, ARCS Andheri play SoBo SuperSonics in Game 2, on the same pitch in Wankhede. Last year, ARCS was the worst performing team so they will need to step up their game if they want a better outing in 2019.
As for the SuperSonics, they were on top of the group stage going into the 2018 semi finals. However, Andheri has made a few changes to their side which may help them put up a better fight in 2019. ARCS Andheri
Iqbal Abdulla led the side last year and he returns as captain, with plenty of experience including IPL stints in the past. If no information is out on squads, pick Abdulla or else skip him as he hasn’t been among the wickets in recent months. Akhil Herwadkar and Shubham Ranjane have been good enough to be a part of the Indian Premier League so they automatically find a place in my fantasy team for this match.
Tushar Deshpande picked up 19 wickets in 10 games in the 2019 Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy and he was a match-winner all season long. He was also the second highest wicket taker for Andheri last year. He is one of the first on my team sheet and is also worth considering as captain or vice-captain.
SoBo SuperSonics
20, 20, 68*, 19 – Yogesh Takawale’s scores in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy, so he becomes my automatic wicket-keeper selection. No doubt, Badre Alam was the highest wicket-taker last year but he hasn’t played much professional cricket since then so be careful while selecting your Fantain (Use Code “READ123”) fantasy team.
All-rounders are always welcome in T20s and that’s where the talented young Dhrumil Matkar will play an important role. Praful Waghela seems a likely starter having been signed after being a part of the winning Triumph Knights squad last year. Pick him and Kevin Almeida may also be a worthy pick.
