We’re done with one complete round of everyone playing everyone and now, we’re set for round two. It’s just going to be rinse and repeat from here. Malaysia was the clear dominant force in the first round and they are going to be so again in the second round. It was Malaysia vs Thailand in the opening game of the T20 tri-series and it’s going to be Malaysia vs Thailand once again, except this time we come to you with more facts and stats than we did last time.
In the reverse fixture, Malaysia restricted Thailand to 113/8 and then chased down the target with 3 overs and 5 wickets to spare. Since then, Malaysia showed that the pitch here at Kinrara Oval can accommodate high scores as well. Stats
- Malaysia is ranked 33rd in the ICC T20 Rankings.
- Thailand is ranked 55th in the ICC T20 Rankings.
- Naveed Pathan – 37 and 34 in two games this tournament.
Malaysia
Both these teams have so many all-rounders in them and I’d choose players who can bat and bowl both. In that regard, I’ll be having Muhamad Syahadat in my fantasy team who has 53 runs and 4 wickets in two games thus far. Another must-have is Syed Aziz who is the highest run getter in the series with 80 runs and this comes along with one wicket to his name. We don’t expect too many changes in the Mayalsian team.
Shafiq Sharif bagged a duck in his first game but hit back hard with 53 in the second game against Maldives. He’s my wicket-keeper pick as he bats as an opener while the Thailand keeper bats in the middle order and also have only 39 runs in the series. Virandeep Singh is a brilliant all-round option but he missed out in the second game so wait for the toss before you pick this guy.
Thailand
Naveed Pathan has got a couple of thirties so far and he’s a good option with the bat as well, but he’ll be oping to converts those starts into something bigger here. At the same time, captain Vichanath Singh is a good option with the ball, having picked up 2/34 in 8 overs at an amazing economy rate in his two games thus far.
With 26 runs and 2 wickets in the tournament so far, Ziaul Hoque is a genuine all-rounder and he won’t be picked by many as he hasn’t delivered as expected. He’s your value bomb player. With the ball, pick Mahsid Faheem who has 4 wickets in 2 games, picking up 2 scalps in each game thus far. Include both of these players in your MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy team.
